Business
The pride of Mark's experience as a mortgage broker most notably includes the development of a proprietary process and software program called mplan®. The little "m" stands for makeover. This process involves generating client specific content rich reports to help clients make informed decisions about all their financing, not just their mortgage.

The process takes the guess work out of the decision making process and closes the gap to specific client goals by showing them the math in visual easy to understand reports. This process is extremely meaningful to any client from a first time buyer to a client with a portfolio of real estate. Navigating to a tax and cash flow efficient collection of finances is a key component of this process. This also includes a collaboration program where Mark routinely works with his client's other trusted advisors.
The entire process began with the simple premise, also, a registered trade mark of Mark's invention, experience a strategy...not just a mortgage®.
Industry
Giving back to an industry he enjoys so much has been a large part of his career as a mortgage broker. During his collective 9 years on the Board of Directors of the Mortgage Brokers Association of British Columbia, he served as Treasurer in 1997 and two terms as President 1999/2000 and finally as Past-President to the Board until 2004.
Most notably during the years of his leadership of the MBABC, Mark dedicated a great deal of his time fostering relationships with provincial regulators and policy makers across several sectors of government at a critical time when amendments to inter-related provincial statutes were being considered that directly affected mortgage brokers. The final results were numerous proposals for amendments to the Securities Act, Real Estate Act, Trade Practices, Consumer Protection Act, and the Mortgage Brokers Act. The latter included most of the forms of disclosure that are still used today which were accepted and passed in the Legislature in 2000. Mark was thrilled to be a part of this industry success.
This was a significant achievement for British Columbia mortgage brokers and helped set the tone for the development of legislation for other provinces where a regulatory regime did not exist or needed significant change.
